Why "Silver Mantle"? My name, Argante, is one of the rather obscure names used for one of the Ladies of the Lake, a group of Goddesses / mythological figures from Breton and Normand folklore. She appears in an Arthurian tale penned by the thirteenth-century English priest and chronicler Layamon. Her name means "Silver One". She is associated with the Celtic Goddess Arianrhod "Silver Wheel" and the Queen in the traditional French tarot suit of pentacles (or coins). Hence the "Silver". A mantle is an ancient garment used as an outer covering. |
