Heinrich (1664)

Heinrich is a rough, tough, salt-soaked rogue with just enough sense to keep an eye out for trouble. And milk it if he can. Press-ganged by attacking pirates as a cabin boy, he soon realized there was a lot more money to be made by simply taking it instead of earning it. Over the years, he's realized that running your own ship may be the way to the top of the nautical heirarchy, but it was a bit too high-profile for his liking. After all, pirating is not a guaranteed success, and he's been forced to hire on as legitimate merchant crew plenty of times. Hard to do that if you're a famous pirate.

On this last voyage, another round-trip to the Americas that promised to at least keep him fed for the duration, his sneaky cutthroat past caught up with him. He met an agent of the Dark One himself, who offered him great supernatural powers in exchange for a stint of apprenticeship... so he said. Heinrich, reminded by this meeting that his soul is already damned, figured that this might be a good opportunity to retire from the sea and set up shop somewhere as a crime boss, his offered powers giving him the advantage he needs to pull it off. He'd need time to figure out how to use them, of course, and here this fellow was offering to teach him that while Heinrich serves him for some period of time... "how long is up to you."

Well, Heinrich's been in the market enough to know there are hidden conditions, but the way luck's turned sour and worse on this trip so far, he'll be plummeting down to hell any minute now, dark powers or no.

Mr. Keefe, you've bought yourself a man.
