Born in Newgate prison in 1630, her criminal mother was transported to the American colonies before she was a year old. Raised in an orphanage/work house, when she reached maturity she took service in the home of a middle class family. After consorting carnally with the eldest son of the family, she was coerced into marrying the youngest son. She had two sons, whom she abandoned to her in-laws after her husband's death. She then married a merchant who quickly lost his fortune and abandoned her, fleeing debtors. She then posed as a widow of good fortune and secured a husband with rich lands in America. She settled in America with her husband and bore three children, two daughters and a son. When her son was out of infancy she quarreled with her husband over her infidelity with a hired hand. Her husband killed her lover, framed her for the murder, then placed her on a ship to Ireland. In Dublin she became a thief and a panderer to survive. Eventually an agent of her husband found her and tried to kill her, she fled to London. She then posed as a widow and became mistress to a wealthy gentleman. She bore a son who died in infancy to her gentleman friend. When her friend died his wife exposed her for a fallen woman. She assumed a new identity, that of Helen Cleaves and worked as a thief, eventually building up a business as a procurer of entertainers and whores for high society parties. She was hired by Mr.Gray (Gorie Rose) to run his theatre and brothel. There she met and was turned by Marcello Giancomo as part of a ritual to grant him special powers.
