Anybody grinning calmly like that can't be good for your health. Don't you get the feeling that he's figured it out already, and he's waiting for you to screw up? We bet he belongs to a lot of country clubs. He probably manages a few really posh restaurants, too.
Matthew began his immortal career in the trenches of House Benedetto, the most vicious and intrigue-filled House in Bloodkin society. From minor flunky and great-grandchild to Lord Benedetto, Matthew weedled his way out of his birth House and into the position of courtier of House Van Mecklen. Once Lord Max's House moved to San Francisco, Matthew bloomed into a lean, mean intrigue machine. He managed to survive the war between his own Lord and Lord Rogan. No one knows how and he isn't telling. He almost achieved his highest goal in 2000 when he placed his puppet Darcy on the Tyrant's throne in San Francisco. But alas, Lady Sabine retook her rightful place and Matthew and Darcy were forced to flee to Australia.
Matthew is a consummate schemer. He desires to be the power behind the thrown, any thrown. He believes that vampirism is a disease, though a beneficial one, and sponsors several secret private laboratories researching ways to enhance vampiric powers.
