Trista Knifewing - Freelance Shaman, Archeologist & Science Fiction Writer Scholarly yet athletic, sophisticated yet untamed, Trista possesses an incisive mind in a powerful body. Those who are the least bit perceptive will recognize the qualities of a romance novel heroine. Our advice, gentlemen; unless you are the hero, stay clear. You can only hurt yourself. Trista was born in Montana in 1933. She's a half-blood werewolf, the were being her mother. She grew up on a ranch, not too far from the Reservation that her mother's father's people live on. She had a reasonably normal childhood, though being part of three different cultures and communities was sometimes difficult. She learned to get along anywhere and with anyone, but she also formed no strong ties to any one of the cultures. Trista expected to take over the ranch some day, but college changed that. As early as high school she had become interested in archeology and the past. She'd been to museums but old things stuck behind glass weren't that exciting. On a trip to New Mexico she visited a newly discovered Anasazi site and later visited the Hopi tribe in the area, who were having a celebration. Seeing an ancient artifact still being used in an equally ancient ceremony was fascinating. On returning home, she discovered her own people, the Blackfeet tribe, one of the few tribes who still lived on their ancestral land. They also had a number of old ritual items, and she could feel more than just their age. She started studying, becoming more involved with her past at the same time. |
