Basic Facts

Immortal masquerading as a human. Outsider, sort of.

Character Concept

Vampire and demon hunter with a holy quest to annihilate supernatural creatures. Founded a secret society (the Rosecrucians) to combat evil. Totally fanatical.

2500 years of accumulated vampire- and demon-slaying knowledge. Moderately bad-ass physically (capable of taking less vamps in a fight), but real strength is in mental capacity and willpower. Phenomenally resistant to charm, thrall, mental probing or manipulation, etc., as well as supernatural forms of disguise. Pretty good at penetrating non-supernatural disguises, too, but that comes more from being around long enough to recognize when someone's being something they're not.

As far as anyone else is concerned, he was born in a small village called Honneamise in Kansai province, Japan, 1969. In reality, he was born about 2500 years ago on Shikoku, the southern-most of the Japanese main islands.

What's externally interesting about him is that he's got a Japanese name, but doesn't look remotely Japanese. Most people assume he's just over-geeking; in reality, this is his chosen appearance of the moment. Also, of late, he's tended to follow around vampires and act like a groupie, being all worshipful and adoring, so that one day, maybe he'll get turned too. Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. Otherwise, he just seems like a typical uber-geek obsessing about vampires and Japanese culture.

Timeline

??? - Japan (name: Tatsuo O-oni)

Began his quest to destroy the enemies of the Light. Studied and compiled notes on the great variety of demonic creatures and entities in Japan. Found that most of them adhered to strict modalities and had specific and reliable weaknesses. Developed a clear understanding of animist and elemental demons. Recruited and trained demon hunters. ??? - China (name: ???)

Fled to China after the distruction of his demon hunting forces by the Mist Fox cult. Found fewer demonic influences in China, although those few were more difficult to deal with. Chinese demons were focused on "sinful" archetypes such as gluttony, lustfulness and greed. He ran into more occurances of possession and more cunning and intelligent demons with fewer specific weaknesses. Developed the understanding that for some demonic types, a more human style of hunting was necessary, focusing on the demon's personal motivations. His appearance morphed slightly to a more mainland Asian type.

??? - India (name: ???)

Travelled through India and ran into a lot of problems. The forces of evil in India were too ambiguous and most were actual gods. Was unable to codify the demonic creatures in this part of the world. Ran into big trouble when a God took exception to his quest, survived only through the direct intervention of the Goddess Amaterasu. Was forceably ejected from the country. Developed emnity towards anything Indian.

500 to 1000 - Middle East/Persia (name: ???)

Wandered through the Middle East, continuing his quest in a land more understandable. Developed an understanding of the Good/Evil duality inherent in Middle Eastern cultures. Studied their religious teachings and the concept that every aspect of existence had a good and an evil deity or spirit associated with it. Experienced his first really substantial morph in appearance. Became swarthy and Indo-European in appearance. Witnessed the rise of Islam. Hunting was good, although after a while he noticed that the religious establishment was frowning on his activities. He became known as a wandering do-gooder whose actions would invariably end up bringing about greater disruption. He would destroy an evil creature harassing a community and move on, then because balance would have to be restored either the evil's good counterpart would wither and dissolve, or another greater evil would crop up in its place. Was "convinced" by local authorities to cease his activities.

1000 to 1400 - Russia (name: ???)

Travelled northward into the steppes and great untamed forests of Russia. Found the demonic creatures in Russia to be like those in Japan. Animist and in great variety, with clearly definable powers and weaknesses. Became comfortable dealing with familiar demonic types and morphed into present appearance, a more northern European appearance. It was during this time that he grasped the enormity of his task and realized that trying to take on the seemingly infinite legions of evil piecemeal would never succeed. Met a Christian missionary and became intrigued by the idea of a great organized force devoted to destroying evil.

1400 - Eastern Europe (name: ???)

Travelled through Eastern Europe in search of the Catholic Church described to him by the missionary. Had epiphany that what was needed to accomplish his quest was a large organization which focused all of society on the rooting out and destruction of the evil forces. Found only ignorance and barbarity in Eastern Europe. Ran into the "risen from the grave to wreck vengence" type of vampire.

1400 to 1555 - Europe (name: James Sprenger)

Entered the Holy Roman Empire and found the robust organization he was hoping for in the Catholic Church. Was introduced to the Christian explanation for demons, that they were the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim (children of humans and the fallen angels). Discovered that not only were demons very clearly considered "bad" in this culture, but that destroying them all should and could be done. Researched Christian teachings and methodology. Took the guise of a priest and infiltrated the Church's organization. Co-authored the Malleus Maleficarum, the Christian "manual" for demon and witch hunters, in an attempt to codify the types of European demons and their minions. Unintentionally set in motion the fanatical rise of the Inquisition. Fell out with his compatriots in the Catholic Church over their too zealous pursuit of "evil". He had lost control of his "tool" and paid a heavy price. He was hunted by the Inquisition for many years and suffered lots of angst. That experience caused an epiphany that attempting to direct an existing organization to pursue his goals wouldn't work because the already established ideology of the organization would interfere with the purity of his quest. What he needed was completely new organization or one small enough to be dominated solely by himself.

1555 to 1726 - Europe (name: various)

Went into hiding and wandered Europe looking for a group to take over or an area ripe for a new religion. The new religions of the Reformation looked promising, but didn't completely suit his aims.

1726 - England (name: Gideon VanDerfendork)

Travelled to England to check out the divergent religious groups there. Hunted a highwayman who turned out to be a demon. Tracked the demon from Coventry to Northhampton and nearly to London. Henchmen (Jakob, Henerik, John & Garrett) were all killed. Got severly wounded and left for dead. Continued hunt with local witchfinders. Defeated again.

1730 - London (name: Trevor MonteClaire)

Finally found a suitable group, the Rosecrucians, and began infiltrating their organization.

1742 - London (name: Trevor MonteClaire)

Trevor fell in love with an English Debutaunt, Rebecca, who was kidnapped soon after their engagement. Trevor enlisted the aid of Professor Valentine Freeman. Dr. Freeman examined the artifacts left at the scene of the kidnapping and discovered them to be of authentic Egyptian origin. The Scarab amulet was of green feldspar, a stone sacred to Anubis, with a prayer to the god inscribed in ancient hieroglyphics on its back. Dr. Freeman further revealed that this kind of amulet was commonly used in tombs to obscure pathways. The ashes were identified as the remains of sacred ritual incenses associated with royalty, purification and bindings.

Trevor continued his investigation into the kidnapping. He found one unsavory seacaptain who had recently shipped a large cargo of stone from an Egyptian port and delivered it to a man in London named Akmed. Trevor enlisted the city guardsmen and a gaggle of his demon-hunting compatriots in the pursuit.

Dr. Freeman informed Trevor of Rebecca's imminent peril from the cultists, that she was to be used as a sacrifice. Dr. Freeman and Trevor engineered a plot to create a fake omen of disaster to draw out the cultists. They created a broken portal with a bum as guardian near one of the cultist's haunts. This provoked one of the higher-ups to come investigate. The Demon in his human guise accompanied the cultist and thwarted Trevor's attempt to follow them to the cult's lair.

Trevor went to the appointed meeting place and staked it out with his demon-hunter friends. At the time of the exchange a group of thugs appeared and demanded payment, but Trevor was too wiley for them and trapped them into revealing that they were not the kidnappers. Just some lowly cutthroats who'd been tipped off about the suposed "meeting". They had just come for the money and even had a doxy disguised as a lady. The thugs admitted that a scrawny Scottsman had come round and spread the tale of easy money.

Bereft of further clues, Trevor wandered the area where he had lost track of the cultist. While searching Trevor caught a glimse of the Doctor's astral form speeding by and gave chase. Trevor was led to the site of the ritual, gathered his men and attacked. While his men caused a diversion, he shot the high priest and the Demon. The priest went down, but the Demon attacked. Then insued a frantic battle scene in which the theatre was set ablaze, a great vortex began sucking up the cultists, and Trevor recovered Rebecca and escaped. The Demon also escaped.

Later that night the Demon tracked down Trevor to ask the question that had tormented him for decades.... who did he work for and why had he been sent to find him? Trevor smirked, made a plithy but noncomittal comment, and fired his now-silver loaded pistols. The Demon dissappeared into the night. Saved Rebecca from the cultists. Married Rebecca and produced daughter, Clarissa.

1760 - London (name: Trevor MonteClaire)

Rebecca died, Clarissa married Edward Bradford. Faked death and moved away.

1831 - Virginia (name: Jedadia)

Jedadia was traveling in Virginia when he came upon a demonic beast attacking a young man. He attempted to intercede. Jed struck down the creature from behind, leaving it momentarily dazed. Before he could strike a killing blow to the monster, the youth rose up and attacked him in a rage. The boy was obviously enthralled by the beast. Jed tried to subdue the boy peacefully, but he fought so fiercely that Jed was given no choice but to slay him. With the boy dead, the creature awoke and fought like the demon it was and managed to wound the demon hunter. Jed retreated and resolved to hunt down the creature. Jed tracked the beast but was confounded by the creature's apparent ability to change into different beast-forms. Jed did notice the distinct physical similarity between this creature and the one who had tormented him during the Egyptian cult episode, although this one was much smaller and of a lighter color. Jedadia raised a lynch-mob among the locals to hunt the "demon". The owner of the land where the attack took place and the father of the dead boy, Thomas Campbell, forbid them to search through Campbell land. The locals had always been suspicious of the Campbells and the mob became convinced that they where hiding the creature. The mod raged out of control, sacking and burning the Campbell house and killing Thomas and all of his men. From then on the surviving Campbells were shunned and their land and slaves were auctioned off.

1934 to 1945 - WWII (name: Bruce Hamilton)

Established identity as American secret service agent Bruce Hamilton. Linked up with British secret service during Nazi hunt for occult relics. Met Nazi officer Konrad and Japanese archeologist Kazuo Tomi. Acquired the ancient Egyptian relic, the Eye of Horus. Kept the artifact for his own private collection. Discovered and used secret Nazi technology to establish super-ghoul project. First successful test subject born in 1941 (Gerald).

1957 - Berkeley (name: Rex Harrison)

Changed persona to Bruce's protégé, Rex Harrison. Super-ghoul Gerald released into society with no knowledge of his true purpose or nature.

1982 - Garou Murder Mystery

During a recruitment mission for the Rosecrusians, Rex was attacked in Mallory's sitting room by a rabid werewolf. He killed it and found it to be a young female. Soon after Rafe showed up and attacked him also. Mallory and Trista broke up the battle and made both parties agree to mediation. Rex performed a ritual to divine the nature of the female's conflict with Rex. Unbeknownst to the others, Rex had earlier summoned and bound Marina's ghost so that no one would be able to find out the truth from her.

2001 - San Francisco (name: Hikaru Daishine)

Infiltrated household of vampire D, posing as goth fanboy. Met vampires Sabine and Grace and ghoul Gerald during a fetish shopping trip.
