Is Witchcraft for Me?

So you're wandering around this website, peeking curiously at articles that go on about "Pagan Ceremonies", "Mother Goddesses" and "Casting Spells", and you start to wonder "is this stuff for me?". Well, the first test is to replace "stuff" with "witchcraft" in the question and ask it to yourself out loud. Go ahead, I can wait all day (I'm just a web page, you see). Waiting.... Hmm, hmm... Well? Did that feel weird? Exciting? Scary? Natural? You see, finding out if witchcraft and paganism are for you is not really about the nature of the craft, but about who you are inside and how you see the universe. Every pagan and witch I've ever talked with has said that when they discovered the craft it was like coming home, like finding a name for what you've always felt was true. Witches come from all backgrounds and upbringings and vary widely in beliefs and practices, but the common thread is an awareness of the spiritual in the everyday world... and a belief in MAGIC.

Isn't that why we're all here, after all. Magic is just cool. Fantasy novelists and storytellers have tantalized us for ages with stories of unsurpassable beauty and unattainable powers. From our earliest days we are nurtured and comforted with warm motherly arms and tales of pixies and magic spells.... And then we "learn" that our world of wonders is a myth, a fake, a lie.

Not true!

I'm not talking the vulgar exaggerations and wiz-bang effects, I'm talking about the real magic at the root of the tales. The rhythms of the earth and sky. The urges that move us to pursue and excel. The mysteries of the universe and the human mind. Magic is more than what the stories say; it is truer, better. Magic is real.

If your mind is open enough to have gotten through the previous points, then proceed ahead and mull over these questions.

Are you longing for a life with spiritual meaning? Do the tales and rites of the Olde Gods call to something deep in your soul? Are you willing and able to take responsibility for all of your actions and face the consequences of your behavior?

If you find yourself answering "yes" to all, then the path of the witch may be for you.
